CabinRate ("CabinRate", "we", "us", "our") operates CabinRate.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how we handle it. We are committed to complying with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What data we collect

We collect the following categories of data when you use CabinRate.com:

• Usage data — pages visited, search filters used, time on site, and referral source, collected automatically via analytics tools
• Device data — browser type, device type, and approximate location derived from IP address
• Cookies and similar technologies — see the Cookies section below
• Information you provide directly — such as if you contact us by email

We do not currently require account creation, and we do not collect payment information — all bookings are completed on our partners' websites, not on CabinRate.com.

How we use your data

• To operate and improve the search and filtering functionality of the site
• To understand which features and listings are most useful to visitors
• To track affiliate referrals so that our partners can attribute bookings correctly
• To respond to enquiries sent to us directly

Saving a comparison

If you save a comparison, you give us an email address so we can send you a link.

• We don’t store your email address. We use it once to send the email, then discard it.
• To recognise you next time we keep an unreadable fingerprint of it. It’s still treated as personal data and is deleted with your saved comparison.
• We store the choices you entered (cruise line, fare, nights and so on), not our results.
• Email links work for 24 hours. A saved comparison is deleted 12 months after you last open it.
• We keep short-lived, unreadable records of requests, deleted within a day, to prevent abuse.

Your email provider handles the address when delivering the message.

Cookies

CabinRate.com uses cookies and similar tracking technologies for:

• Essential functionality — remembering your filter and sort preferences during a session
• Analytics — understanding aggregate site usage
• Saved comparisons — after you open a saved link we remember it for that browser tab only, until you close it (session storage, not a cookie), so you can update your saved comparison
• Affiliate tracking — our affiliate partners (CruiseNation, via Awin, and GetYourGuide) and the merchants we link to may set their own tracking cookies when you click through to their sites, so that they can attribute a booking back to CabinRate

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect site functionality, including our ability to remember your preferences.

Sharing your data

We do not sell personal data. We may share limited data with:

• Analytics providers, to help us understand site usage
• Affiliate networks and booking partners, solely for the purpose of attributing referrals when you click through to book
• Service providers who help us run the site (e.g. hosting), under appropriate data processing agreements

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal data, and to object to processing or request data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@cabinrate.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Data retention

We retain usage data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above, typically no longer than 3 months. A saved comparison (and its fingerprint) is deleted 12 months after you last open it, email links expire after 24 hours, and abuse-protection records are deleted within a day.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
